Children's Book Video

I'm bustling around prepping for THIS - we're filming a video for the release of my children's book, Did You Know That I Love You? I can't wait! You can expect to hear about childhood memories, hopes, dreams and see some in-progress paintings and new book art :)

You Are Strong

Inspired by my friend Sarah McMurray, who has been very open and courageous about her journey fighting cancer. We are all stronger than we think!

*Send Sarah an encouraging note here.

Love you, Sarah.

Oregonian

My 1st children's book is almost here! Feeling happy and grateful to be featured in the Oregonian this week. Talk about surreal! I took a screenshot to capture it - a year ago I would've been shocked to be featured in the Oregonian.

Digital Manipulation flowers

Had a fun afternoon arranging pdfs of watercolor paintings into a new painting - in progress:

Church Choir Doodler

I have been saving doodled on church programs for the past 9 months...excited to pull out some of the good ones, draw them more fully, and make a series of them :)

I really like the way the drawings overlap with the music, or words, and creamy colored paper. I especially like the proximity of the man in the lower left corner to the words "gun violence awareness Sabbath".

Portland Rain (Magical Properties)

I went to Las Vegas this week - which was fun - but which fully convinced me that I belong in Portland, Oregon. This little painting is one of my odes to magical, beautiful Portland.

I Love Oregon!

I'm feeling the Oregon love! I wanted to do my own spin on our classic green and white "I love Oregon" symbol. I think  the craft paper, and the charcoal pencil, combined with a simple watercolor/gouache wreath makes for a very Portland, Oregon feel.

In process shot:

and here us a more simple rain-wreath version:
